The Nordic Weeks 2018 in St. Petersburg
The Nordic Weeks take place in St. Petersburg during 15 September – 20 October. The programme of the festival includes variety of events & themes – films, music, architecture, literature, history and many more. This year the festival is arranged for the ninth time and is united under common “Neighborhood” topic.
One of the highlights for the the Danish Cultural Institute will be the Urban “Waterfront” forum during 5-6 October organised in cooperation with the Street Art Research Institute, Vodokanal, Nordic consulates with financial support of the Nordic Council of Ministers. It will be a continuation of the eco-advocacy project started in 2017. It’s aim is to familiarise with Nordic experience of urban spaces transformation in time when industrial functions in the city are re-developed into recreational and eco-friendly.
Danish events of the Nordic Weeks will also include round table at TASS agency with Bjarne Schilling, Readers’ Editor in “Politiken” and President of the Organisation of News Ombudsmen & Standards Editors. Another topic will include several presentations “Children’s rights in Denmark – a series of dilemmas” by Anette Faye Jacobsen, Senior Researcher of the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
Danish programme is also included in all joint Nordic events: film festivals, children’s literature event, Nordic cartoonists visit.
The Nordic Weeks are organised in North-West Russia since 2010 in cooperation with the Consulates General of Finland, Norway & Sweden in St. Petersburg, the Embassies of Iceland & Denmark in Moscow, the Danish Cultural Institute & the Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg to promote Nordic cooperation.
